Casual - Part Time - This position is only available to registered students of Swansea University Students' Union
Hourly Rate - Relevant National Living/Minimum Wage (dependent on age)
We are a registered charity and the principle voice of students studying at Swansea University. Through our charitable and commercial activities, we provide valuable support to our membership and enhance their time at University.
This is a great opportunity to join our team at work at our Costcutter store at Singleton Campus
Based on a flexible zero hours contract we are looking for enthusiastic staff to work with us across our retail services. You will need to be hard working and committed to providing outstanding customer service.
Job Summary:
We are looking for a motivated and experienced Retail Supervisor to help oversee daily store operations, lead the sales team, and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a passion for retail, and the ability to drive team performance in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Supervise and support the retail team to ensure smooth day-to-day operations
· Lead by example in delivering excellent customer service
· Monitor staff performance and provide on-the-job coaching and feedback
· Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of new team members
· Handle customer complaints, returns, and escalated issues professionally
· Ensure store presentation and merchandising standards are maintained
· Monitor stock levels and support stock replenishment and inventory control
· Open and close the store as required
· Check the tills and store the takings securely
· Ensure the health and safety standards.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
· Proven experience in a retail or customer service environment, ideally in a supervisory role
· Strong leadership and team management skills
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
· Sales-driven with strong organisational and problem-solving abilities
· Comfortable using till systems and basic computer software
· Flexible schedule, including availability on weekends, evenings, and holidays
· Ability to multitask and work under pressure
Working Conditions:
· Retail store environment with standing, walking, and lifting stock
· May involve working late hours, weekends, or holidays based on business needs
